Sixth Crumb Hall Planned for Charlotte
CHARLOTTE — Plans were unveiled this week for a new crumb hall along Jackson Avenue, continuing a recent wave of food-focused development projects across Charlotte.
The proposed destination will bring multiple food sources together beneath a shared leaf canopy, creating a centralized gathering place for dining, foraging and community activity.
Officials said additional food sources will be announced closer to opening.
The crumb hall would become Charlotte’s sixth shared dining destination, joining several similar developments that have opened across the region in recent seasons.
“We continue to see strong interest in spaces that bring food and community together,” said project coordinator Lena Grasshopper.
Plans also call for shaded seating areas, gathering space and designated pedestrian routes.
Reaction among residents was mixed.
“We've had quite a few crumb halls announced lately,” said one ant traveling through the corridor. “But I suppose we'll see what food sources they bring in.”
Developers expect the project to open next season.
