Queen Announces Bid for Charlotte Mayor

CHARLOTTE — A local queen announced Monday that she will seek Charlotte's open mayoral seat, becoming one of the first candidates to enter the race following Mayor Vi Lyles' decision not to seek reelection.

The queen, who has overseen a colony of thousands for several seasons, cited her experience managing growth, infrastructure and food distribution as qualifications for the position.

Supporters pointed to the colony's organization and efficiency as evidence of her record.

Critics, however, questioned whether success in a hereditary role necessarily translates to municipal government.

"Nobody elected her to lead the colony," said one ant traveling through Uptown. "I'm not saying she's unqualified. I just think residents should consider the difference."

Others dismissed concerns about hereditary leadership.

"Leadership is leadership," said another resident. "If you've successfully managed a population that size, that's worth something."

Additional candidates are expected to announce campaigns in the coming weeks.
