Truist Announces Plans to Acquire Local Tree Branch

CHARLOTTE — Truist Financial announced Friday that it plans to acquire a medium-sized tree branch in First Ward Park, a move executives say will expand the bank’s presence within Charlotte’s squirrel community.

The branch, described by officials as a “strategically positioned asset,” is expected to support long-term growth and provide access to a heavily traveled section of the park.

“This gives us a direct foothold in an area with strong activity and significant potential,” a spokesperson said.

The company said existing occupants of the branch would be allowed to remain in place following the acquisition, though it was unclear whether additional requirements would be introduced.

At press time, several squirrels said they welcomed investment in the branch but hoped its character would be preserved.
