Scooter Collapse Disrupts Morning Ant Commute
CHARLOTTE — An overturned Lime scooter brought the morning ant commute to a halt Tuesday after the vehicle was discovered blocking a primary crumb corridor near Uptown.
The scooter, which appeared to have been knocked onto its side overnight, forced dozens of ants into a single-file merge, slowing movement through the area to a near standstill.
“It’s a bottleneck,” said one ant, who reported delays of up to several minutes. “You’ve got inbound and outbound traffic trying to use the same edge. Nobody’s letting anyone through.”
Witnesses described heavy congestion forming along both sides of the obstruction, with some ants attempting to climb the scooter’s base before abandoning the effort and rejoining the line.
City officials have not yet cleared the vehicle but are advising commuters to reroute beneath nearby leaf cover or allow for additional travel time.
